HOW WE TRAIN

There are a lot of options when it comes to goalkeeper training. So what sets GKFC apart?

It's not just my experience--DI, English Championship scouted, and semi-professional player, plus DI GK coach and major LMSC GK Director--or my passion for the game and position, but because I sincerely care about my athletes and am genuinely excited at their success on and off the pitch!

Every keeper trained becomes part of the GKFC Family, because that's exactly what we are. We challenge, encourage, and support each other to bring out our very best (myself included).

Check out the video below to get a glimpse of what goes into a GKFC training session and where GKFC alums have gone on to play.

ABOUT ME

My name is John Ward, and I'm the founder and technical director of GKFC. I played collegiately at Villanova University and a brief stint with the Pali and LA Blues, respectively, before taking a training opportunity in England, which ultimately ended my playing career. I've had the extreme fortune and honor to coach the goalkeepers at LMSC and The Shipley School, before moving on to coach the goalkeepers at The University of Pennsylvania.  Currently residing in Denver, I trained the goalkeepers at The University of Northern Colorado and Metro State University-Denver, as well as FC Boulder and Real Colorado, before settling in at Broomfield SC. I moved back to Los Angeles where I worked with Big Cat goalkeeping, Santa Monica Surf, and Venice Beach FC, along with continuing to provide private training.

GKFC was formally established in 2016 in the greater Philadelphia area and it was bred from the desire to provide the type of training that wasn't available to me outside of camps, with a coaching philosophy that focused on developing the player as a person, not just as a goalkeeper (more on that in the Philosophy section). Training sessions are technical and intense--like the position--but our goal is to not only to get each keeper in the GKFC family to their highest potential, but to do that in a supportive, fun environment.

Learn more about that philosophy and reach out about training through the form or email below. Cheers!
